Evolution theories: Brief review. (E O M - 2)

Evolution, in biology, is a complex process by which the characteristics of living organisms change over many generations as traits are passed from one generation to the next.
The science of evolution seeks to understand the biological forces that caused ancient organisms to develop into the tremendous and ever-changing variety of life seen on Earth today. It addresses how, over the course of time, various plant and animal species branch off to become entirely new species, and how different species are related through complicated family trees that span millions of years.
Evolution provides an essential framework for studying the ongoing history of life on Earth. A central, and historically controversial, component of evolutionary theory is that all living organisms, from microscopic bacteria to plants, insects, birds, and mammals, share a common ancestor. Species that are closely related share a recent common ancestor, while distantly related species have a common ancestor further in the past. The animal most closely related to humans, for example, is the chimpanzee. The common ancestor of humans and chimpanzees is believed to have lived approximately 6 million to 7 million years ago . On the other hand, an ancestor common to humans and reptiles lived some 300 million years ago. And the common ancestor to even more distantly related forms lived even further in the past. Evolutionary biologists attempt to determine the history of lineages as they diverge and how differences in characteristics developed over time.
Throughout history, philosophers, religious thinkers, and scientists have attempted to explain the history and variety of life on Earth. During the rise of modern science in Western Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries, a predominant view held that God created every organism on Earth more or less as it now exists. But in that time of burgeoning interest in the study of fossils and natural history, the beginnings of a modern evolutionary theory began to take shape. Early evolutionary theorists proposed that all of life on Earth evolved gradually from simple organisms. Their knowledge of science was incomplete, however, and their theories left too many questions unanswered. Most prominent scientists of the day remained convinced that the variety of life on Earth could only result from an act of divine creation.
In the mid-19th century a modern theory of evolution took hold, thanks to British naturalist Charles Darwin. In his book On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, published in 1859, Darwin described the evolution of life as a process of natural selection. Life, he suggested, is a competitive struggle to survive, often in the face of limited resources. Living things must compete for food and space. They must evade the ravages of predators and disease while dealing with unpredictable shifts in their environment, such as changes in climate. Darwin offered that, within a given population in a given environment, certain individuals possess characteristics that make them more likely to survive and reproduce. These individuals will pass these critical characteristics on to their offspring. The number of organisms with these traits increases as each generation passes on the advantageous combination of traits. Outmatched, individuals lacking the beneficial traits gradually decrease in number. Slowly, Darwin argued, natural selection tips the balance in a population toward those with the combination of traits, or adaptations, best suited to their environment.

Animal Kingdom

While On the Origin of Species was an instant sensation and best-seller, Darwin’s theories faced hostile reception by critics who railed against his blasphemous ideas. Other critics pointed to questions left unresolved by Darwin’s careful arguments. For instance, Darwin could not explain the mechanism that caused life forms to change from generation to generation.
Hostility gave way to acclaim as scientists vigorously debated, explored, and built on Darwin’s theory of natural selection. As the 20th century unfolded, scientific advances revealed the detailed mechanisms missing from Darwin’s theory. Study of the complex chemistry of all organisms unveiled the structure of genes as well as how they are duplicated, altered, and passed from generation to generation. New statistical methods helped explain how genes in specific populations change over generations.
These new methods provided insight into how populations remain adaptable to changing environmental circumstances and broadened our understanding of the genetic structure of populations. Advances in techniques used to determine the age of fossils provided clues about when extinct organisms existed and details about the circumstances surrounding their extinction. And new molecular biology techniques compare the genetic structures of different species, enabling scientists to determine heretofore undetectable evolutionary relationships between species.
Today, evolution is recognized as the cornerstone of modern biology. Uniting such diverse scientific fields as cell biology, genetics, paleontology, and even geology and statistics, the study of evolution reveals an exquisitely complex interaction of the forces that act upon every life form on Earth.
Experiment 1953: Attempt to reproduce the atmosphere of the primitive Earth nearly 4 billion years ago
Some evolutionary biologists are trying to understand how life originated on Earth. This too requires the careful examination and interpretation of many indirect clues. In one well-known series of experiments in 1953, American chemists Stanley L. Miller and Harold C. Urey attempted to reproduce the atmosphere of the primitive Earth nearly 4 billion years ago. They circulated a mixture of gases believed to have been present at the time (hydrogen, methane, ammonia, and water vapor) over water in a sterile glass container. They then subjected the gases to the energy of electrical sparks, simulating the action of lightning on the primitive Earth. After about a week, the fluid turned brown and was found to contain amino acids―the building blocks of proteins. Subsequent work by these scientists and others also succeeded in producing nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA and other nucleic acids.
While the artificial generation of these molecules in laboratories did not produce a living organism, this research offers some support that the first building blocks of life could have arisen from raw materials that were present in the environment of the primitive Earth. Once all the raw materials were in place―nucleic acids, proteins, and the other components of simple cells―it is not clear how the first self-replicating life forms actually came about.
Recent theories center on the role of a particular nucleic acid―ribonucleic acid (RNA), which, in modern cells, carries out the task of translating the instructions coded in DNA for the assembling of proteins. RNA also acts as a catalyst―that is, to cause other chemical reactions―and perhaps most significantly, to make copies of itself. Some scientists believe that the first self-replicating organisms were based on RNA.
Lamarck: Perhaps the most prominent of those who embraced the idea of progressive change in the living world was the early 19th-century French biologist Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. Lamarck’s theory, now known as Lamarckism and based in part on his study of the fossils of marine invertebrates, was that species do change over time. He believed, furthermore, that animals evolve because unfavorable conditions produce needs that animals try to satisfy.
Modern scientists know that adaptation and natural selection are far more complicated than Lamarck supposed, having nothing to do with an animal’s voluntary efforts. Nevertheless, the idea of acquired characteristics, with Lamarck as its most famous proponent, persisted for many years.
Cuvier: French naturalist and paleontologist Georges Cuvier feuded (disagreed) with Lamarck. Unearthing the fossils of mastodons and other vanished species, Cuvier produced proof of long-extinct life forms on Earth. Unlike Lamarck, however, Cuvier did not believe in evolution. Instead, Cuvier believed that floods and other cataclysms destroyed such ancient species. He suggested that after each cataclysmic event, God created a new set of organisms.
Thomas Robert Malthus: At around the same time that Cuvier and Lamarck were squabbling, British economist Thomas Robert Malthus proposed ideas extremely influential in evolutionary theory. In his 1798 work An Essay on the Principle of Population, Malthus theorized that the human population would increase at a much greater rate than its food sources. This theory introduced the key idea of competition for limited resources―that is, there is not enough food, water, and living space to go around, and organisms must somehow compete with each other to obtain resources necessary for survival.
Charles Lyell: Another key idea came from Scottish geologist Charles Lyell, who supplied a deeper understanding of Earth’s history. In his book Principles of Geology (1830), Lyell set forth his case that the Earth was millions of years old rather than only a few thousand years old, as was maintained by those who accepted the biblical story of divine creation as fact.
Alfred Russell Wallace

British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace shares credit for the revolutionary theory

 of evolution by natural selection with another British naturalist, Charles Darwin.

 Though the two scientists arrived at their conclusions independently, excerpts of 

their papers were presented simultaneously at a now famous meeting of the 

Linnean Society in London in 1858.

In 1831 Charles Darwin, who was intending to become a country minister, had an opportunity to sail as ship’s naturalist aboard the HMS Beagle on a five-year, round-the-world mapmaking voyage.
In 1837, shortly after returning to England, Darwin began a notebook of his observations and thoughts on evolution. Although Darwin had developed the major components of his theory of evolution by natural selection in an 1842 unpublished paper circulated among his friends, he was unwilling to publish the results until he could present as complete a case as possible. He labored for almost 20 additional years on his theory of evolution and on its primary mechanism, natural selection.
In 1858 he received a letter from British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, a professional collector of wildlife specimens. Much to Darwin’s surprise, Wallace had independently hit upon the idea of natural selection to explain how species are modified by adapting to different conditions. Not wanting Darwin to be unfairly deprived of his share of the credit for the theory, some of Darwin’s scientific colleagues presented extracts of Darwin’s work along with Wallace’s paper at a meeting of the Linnean Society, a London-based science organization, in June 1858. Wallace’s paper stimulated Darwin to finish his work and get it into print. Darwin published On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection on November 24, 1859. All 1,250 copies of the first printing were sold on that day.
Gregor Mendel

Known as the father of modern genetics, Austrian monk Gregor Mendel developed

 the principles of heredity by studying the variation and heredity of seven pairs of 

inherited characteristics in pea plants. Although the significance of his work was

 not recognized during his lifetime, it became the basis for the present day

 field of genetics.

Mendel performed hundreds of experiments and produced precise statistical models and principles of heredity, now known as Mendel’s Laws, showing how dominant and recessive traits are expressed over generations. However, no one appreciated the significance of Mendel’s work until after his death. But his work ultimately gave birth to the modern field of genetics.
Hugo Marie de Vries: In 1900, Dutch botanist Hugo Marie de Vries and others independently discovered Mendel’s laws. The following year, de Vries’s book The Mutation Theory challenged Darwin’s concept of gradual changes over long periods by proposing that evolution occurred in abrupt, radical steps.
Having observed new varieties of the evening primrose plant coming into existence in a single generation, de Vries had subsequently determined that sudden change, or mutation, in the genetic material was responsible. As the debate over evolution continued in the early 20th century, some scientists came to believe that mutation, and not natural selection, was the driving force in evolution. In the face of these mutationists, Darwin’s central theory threatened to fall out of favor.
Theodosius Dobzhansky

American geneticist and zoologist Theodosius Dobzhansky was an important 

contributor to the field of population genetics. Dobzhansky studies of fruit

 flies and other organisms helped explain the role of adaptation in the 

evolution of races and species. As the science of genetics advanced during the

 1920s and 1930s, several key scientists forged a link between Mendel laws of 

inheritance and the theory of natural selection proposed by Darwin and Wallace.
British mathematician Sir Ronald Fisher, British geneticist J.B.S. Haldane, and American geneticist Sewall Wright pioneered the field of population genetics. By mathematically analyzing the genetic variation in entire populations, these scientists demonstrated that natural selection, and not just mutation, could result in evolutionary change.
Modern synthesis: Further investigation into population genetics and such fields as paleontology, taxonomy, biogeography, and the biochemistry of genes eventually led to what is called the modern synthesis. This modern view of evolution integrated discoveries and ideas from many different disciplines.
In so doing, this view reconciled the many disparate ideas about evolution into the all-encompassing evolutionary science studied today.
In 1942, American paleontologist George Gaylord Simpson demonstrated from the fossil record that rates and modes of evolution are correlated: New kinds of organisms arise when their ancestors invade a new niche, and evolve rapidly to best exploit the conditions in the new environment.
In the late 1940s American botanist G. Ledyard Stebbins showed that plants display evolutionary patterns similar to those of animals, and especially that plant evolution has demonstrated diverse adaptive responses to environmental pressures and opportunities.
In addition, biologists reviewed a broad range of genetic, ecological, and anatomical evidence to show that observation and experimental evidence strongly supported the modern synthesis. The theory has formed the basis of evolutionary science since the 1950s.
Watson and Crick: In 1953, American biochemist James Watson and British biophysicist Francis Crick described the three-dimensional shape of DNA, the molecule that contains hereditary information in nearly all living organisms. In the following decade, geneticists developed techniques to rapidly compare DNA and proteins from different organisms. In one such procedure, electrophoresis, geneticists evaluate different specimens of DNA or proteins by observing how they behave in the presence of a slight electric charge. Such techniques opened up entirely new ways to study evolution. For the first time geneticists could quantitatively determine, for example, the genetic change that occurs during the formation of new species.
In 1968 Japanese geneticist Motoo Kimura proposed that much of the variation at the molecular level results not from the forces of natural selection, but from chance mutations that do not affect an organism’s fitness. Not all scientists agree with the neutral gene theory.
Sociobiology: In recent decades, another branch of evolutionary theory has appeared, as researchers have explored the possibility that not only physical traits, but behavior itself, might be inherited.
Behavioral geneticists have studied how genes influence behavior, and more recently, the role of biology in social behavior has been explored. This field of investigation, known as sociobiology, was inaugurated in 1975 with the publication of the book Sociobiology: The New Synthesis by American evolutionary biologist Edward O. Wilson.
Sociobiologists examine animal behaviors that are called altruistic―that is, unselfish, or demonstrating concern for the welfare of others. When birds feed on the ground, for example, one individual may notice a predator and sound an alarm. In so doing, the bird also calls the predator’s attention to itself. What can account for the behavior of such a sentry, who would seem to derive no evolutionary benefit from its unselfish behavior and so seem to defy the laws of natural selection?
Darwin was aware of altruistic social behavior in animals, and of how this phenomenon challenged his theory of natural selection.
Evolutionary theory has undergone many further refinements in recent years. One such theory challenges the central idea that evolution proceeds by gradual change.
In 1972 American paleontologists Stephen Jay Gould and Niles Eldredge proposed the theory of punctuated equilibria. According to this theory, trends in the fossil record cannot be attributed to gradual transformation within a lineage, but rather result from quick bursts of rapid evolutionary change.
In the last several decades, scientists have questioned the role of extinction in evolution. Of the millions of species that have existed on this planet, more than 99 percent are extinct.
Historically, biologists regarded extinction as a natural outcome of competition between newly evolved, adaptively superior species and their older, more primitive ancestors. Recently, however, paleontologists have discovered that many different, unrelated species living in large ecosystems tend to become extinct at nearly the same time. The cause is always some sort of climate change or catastrophic event that produces conditions too severe for most organisms to endure. Moreover, new species evolve after the wave of extinction removes many of the species that previously occupied a region for millions of years. Thus extinction does not result from evolution, but actually causes it.
Scientists have identified several instances of mass extinction, when species apparently died out on a huge scale. The greatest of these episodes occurred during the end of the Permian Period, some 245 million years ago. At that time, according to estimates, more than 95 percent of species―nearly all life on the planet―died out. Another extensively studied extinction took place at the boundary of the Cretaceous Period and the Tertiary Period, roughly 65 million years ago, when the dinosaurs disappeared. In all, more than 20 global mass extinctions have been identified. Some scientists theorize that such events may even be cyclical, occurring at regular intervals.
Advances in medical technology may also affect natural selection. The study from the mid-20th century showing that babies of medium birth weights were more likely to survive than their heavier or lighter counterparts would be difficult to reproduce today. Advances in neonatal medical technology have made it possible for small or premature babies to survive in much higher numbers.
Recent genetic analysis shows the human population contains harmful mutations in unprecedented levels. Researchers attribute this to genetic drift acting on small human populations throughout history. They also expect that improved medical technology may exacerbate the problem. Better medicine enables more people to survive to reproductive age, even if they carry mutations that in past generations would have caused their early death. The genetic repercussions of this are still unknown, but biologists speculate that many minor problems, such as poor eyesight, headaches, and stomach upsets may be attributable to our collection of harmful mutations.
Humans have also developed the potential to affect evolution at the most basic level―the genes. The techniques of genetic engineering have become commonplace. Scientists can extract genes from living things, alter them by combining them with another segment of DNA, and then place this recombinant DNA back inside the organism.
Genetic engineering has produced pest-resistant crops as well as larger cows and other livestock. To an increasing extent, genetic engineers fight human disease, such as cancer and heart disease. The investigation of gene therapy, in which scientists substitute functioning copies of a given gene for a defective gene, is an active field of research. The way this tinkering with genetic material will affect evolution remains to be determined.

Comments: Though lot of thinkers have put forward different theories on the process of evolution, there are many un-answered questions still waiting for answers. We shall try to see some more 21st century thinkers' views in the articles to follow.

EVOLUTION OF MIND (E O M - 1)


Why Do We Care About Human Evolution Today?

Wherever our origins ultimately lie, there is no rational doubt that we Homo sapience are proximately the product of an eventful evolutionary past.


Our ancient history is richly documented by a fossil record that is remarkably abundant for one single family of primates, and that is certainly a lot better than most paleoanthropologists are prepared to concede . Fossil records are by their nature incomplete, and in a science in which every answer leads to compelling new questions, it is important to flesh them out as much as possible.


Still, what we already know allows us to construct a fairly convincing outline sketch of human prehistory, and of the natural context in which it played out. What’s more, as members of an intensely curious species that instinctively wants to know the “why” of everything, most of us are naturally interested in knowing more about this drama of human becoming. But in trying to learn as much as possible about our evolutionary background, are we merely satisfying an innate genealogical inquisitiveness? Or can we take this enterprise beyond the satisfaction of superficial curiosity, to discover more profound implications about ourselves and our essential natures?

One would argue that we can, and indeed that only by knowing the nature of the process that produced us can we begin to understand the rather bizarre and contradictory ways in which humans sometimes behave.


Why Evolution Matters


This is because the exact manner of our evolution cuts straight to the heart of who we are.


Our remarkable ability to create new realities in our minds wonderfully enables us to perceive things that lie beyond the material and the scientifically accessible. This ability is essentially limitless;


Although we are individually formed and bound by social influences of many kinds, there are no clear intrinsic restrictions on how we express our cognitive capacities. On the plus side, this lack of constraint provides the basis for our free will. But being unconstrained has its dangers.


And these furnish the principal reason why we should indeed care, deeply, about accurately understanding the nature of the process that produced us. For knowing how non-directionally we evolved not only helps us comprehend why our behaviors are so frequently conflicted, contradictory, and unhelpful, it also forces us to realize the extent to which we are individually responsible for them.


To know more about “us” we need to know our 'minds' and the journey of our mind starting from the advent of evolution. Swami Vijnananand (S. V.) has elaborated in details the vital role of 'Mind' in the desire to come to existence and evolve from single cell to many cells creatures and finally to the current stage of human being. Organized Mind fabricates an "Individual". MIND POWER - 9. (Concluding Part)

‘Organized Mind’ fabricates an ‘individual’, builds around it a net of cells. The fabrication of the individual and net of cells around it is done at ‘whatever quality organizing mind deserves’. Yes! you , I, all of us are surrounded by ghosts , cell by cell , animal by animal , man by man in which individual rests.

14.1. Cell matter common, cell mind ‘as I deserve’

In the following discussions, we have to understand point by point, how the relationship of mind and other surrounding minds make a mark.

Touch of life creates wonderful transformation in a tiny piece of matter:

Body of each cell is comparatively a dead matter. How a touch of life brings about magical transformation to the piece of matter is illustrated below.

Catalase is an enzyme which in living protoplasm accelerates the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water.

The reaction can be accelerated by inorganic iron too. But the action of iron is very weak.

However by uniting iron with special organic substance “pyrrole”, we can make that reaction thousands times more effective.

Catalase, a natural enzyme, also contains iron with pyrolle, but its action is about ten millions times stronger because it contains in addition a specific protein. This specific difference makes miracle.

Catalyst power of one mg of iron contained in the catalase complex (of life full protoplasm) is equal to that of ten tones of inorganic iron.

That is the miracle of a touch of life to a matter.

Touch of Life gives ten million times strength to the tiny piece. This is a phenomenon which science can’t explain.

To this transcending (that which goes beyond normal limit) power, we call Mind.

Since each mind (with its varying desires) differs, it brings in consideration of “deserving”. The external energy at material level, may be common , but the total energy would vary.(as per mind component)
For all our advanced techniques, we have not yet approached the level of rationalism possessed by living Nature.

Two minds in one body:

Before a baby is born, in pre natal stage, the face of the mother turns lustrous, even in case of unwanted child. The pulse rate of the child and mother are different. By all indications, it means two minds in one body.

14.2. At birth, matter and minds meet as they deserve.

14.2.1. Let us check-up references to birth process independent of parents. (This is not very common phenomenon, yet we have noted here the well-known uncommon facts.)

* Parthenogenesis – definition (virgin birth, Nature’s short cut), Development of an egg cell without being fertilized by a sperm cell, it is not a primitive state of affairs. (Dictionary of Biology, T-250, page 172 and Riddle of science, P-23, page 58)

1 Christ was born without the male partner – a clear case of auto birth.
2 King Dasharatha, the father of Ram distributed liquid (payasa) among his three queens, which was supposed to give him sons. Though the cause of birth was that particular liquid, Dasharatha did not consume it, clear case of auto birth.
3 According to one tale a sweat drop of Hanuman helped a birth. A curios cross breed from crocodile type mother. The son was called Makaradhwaj.
4 In case of Krishna too, He entered the appropriate birth place. This was told by the father of Krishna himself; (Bhagawat, part 10, chapter 2).
5 Mahabharata tells us many such stories.
6 Other religions frequently endorse such phenomenon.
7 In the issue of ‘Therapist’ Jan’1911, there is a story of Madam Blavtsky. After her death, she entered into a fourteen years boy, who was dead that time.

All the above may be overlooked and we turn to the present picture in search of corroboration.

14.2.2 The route of birth is clear.

Bodies of the mother and father provide raw material of matter for the ‘new organized mind’. Father, mother as sex dual merely represent factor inequality pervading in fathomless nature.

 -So, father, mother must be taken as mere instruments for new birth.

While during the birth process the ‘organizing mind’ collects the necessary minds (along with cells) for body fabrication , from where do these minds come from ? How do they cooperate with the ‘organizing mind’?

The riddle can be solved with pure logic.

Qualitatively inferior minds participate in the new game; which both have played earlier, somewhere else. Not that they have cordial relation but the tendency we see in the society, has its origin at the root of every birth. For the convenience and selfish end of all, cell minds come together and some of the cell minds do have a vengeance in their heart. They wait till the appropriate time to overpower the ‘organizing mind’.

The tendencies we see in the society, has its origin on the above lines, at the root of every birth.(Additional references in the book: 8.4, 8.5, 1.9)

Possibilities (With ref. To 1.9 illustrations.)

A. Begin with a much exaggerated possibility about Mr. and Mrs. A. When Mr. A was a child till 4 years, as an angry child, he hits his cells. One of the cells may deteriorate; revengefully turn as would be Mrs. A.  Conspire with some couple as father and mother and later re-enter in Mr. A’s life as his wife. (This can more possibly happen in case of Master A or Miss A).
B. These relationships may have roots in previous existence. (Previous birth or pre life period)
C. Mr. A strikes at his body cells to satisfy his emotions in which his body cells participate with growing inconvenience. A rebelling moment is reached, when a cell mutates. The mutiny is called cancer, or a son or daughter. (More information in point 14.7.2)
D. Many other permutations or combinations with respect to time and relationship may occur.

Analysis and interpretation of displeasures and evils

Accidents, sudden separations, so called untimely deaths need to be analyzed in the light of Nature’s over all tenets. Perhaps such so called mishaps signal settlement of reciprocal accounts.

Apparent strangeness in the argument

It sounds strange that the nearer relative breaths revenge or relative lack specific tenor in Nature. What can be the other surest way to recover all the past dues, except earning the confidence under the garb (cover) of nearest relative? Conversely, that anybody - say in this case , Mr. A strived breathlessly with pleasure for Mrs. A , Miss A, and Master A itself proves that Mr. A owned them this refund. Else, what can be their claim? What is the other possible logic? Nature has fabricated the shrewdest mechanism for establishing ‘just’ process of revenge, in the name of affection. (Revenge cycle in the single life is not rare. Yet long range cycles also exist).

14.3 Rebirth is not “must”

Long revenge phenomenon may be called a rebirth. But rebirth is not must. This point is elaborately discussed in other books by S. V. viz. God Re-considered , Marx proves Rebirth , Science and Philosophy , What Mind means , Know your Death.

14.4 Is reciprocation so exactly minute? Are there ‘Chances’, ‘Accidents’ in Nature?

If you go through the records of the world history from geological, physical, biological, chemical point of view, you will find Nature to be absolutely exact. Many a times, scientists term it as a chance, accident etc. Medicines are normally injected or swallowed to reach stomach. How they reach exactly the actual ailing destination?

4. How cells recognize each other- (Purpose of the Universe, Point 11.2).

The above references clearly establish the exact and minute relationship in the nature.
Russian thinkers hold that cause and effect relationship is absolute. Causality means: every cause has its effect and no effect will be produced without appropriate cause.

Causality rules at all levels including philosophy:

According to Engels, grain to mountain, all entities are governed by the same law, -- action and reaction, cause and effect. Therefore; the effect that is produced while fabricating each cell of the body; cannot be without a just and an appropriate cause.
Engels specifically has stressed: In Biology as in History of human society, the same law holds good at every stage. But we prefer to dwell here on examples from the exact science, since here the quantities are accurately measurable and traceable. In clear scientific terms, effects produced in the biological field of body building are subjected to previous causes.

14.5. Cell movement Purposeful well directed.

It is seen earlier how cells recognize each other even after eighty years in single existence. They work for unity of body. But we have also seen that the same cell hits back on the individual to form cold or cancer. And we have also seen that cells in the same body, at the time of death try to save themselves. The behavior of the cells is undoubtedly by and large ‘self-motivated’ and their cooperation with the ‘organized mind’ is motivated by merely selfish end which often includes revenge.

14.11. All symbiosis, all alternatives, turn to parasitic.

At interval level, all the cells of the body cause pain during the last journey to death.

The slave cells rebel.

Manifest or emotional causes prick thorns from all sides

Externally, enemies act as open enemies, but are fate of friends any better?
Without exception, friends or relatives have to part, and every parting is sad. Nearer the person, the more the agony of parting pain, which remains unavoidable?
After the death of dear ones, life becoming intolerable is a common experience. Yet more common is the rebelling relative, in the name of affection.

Napoleon was doomed by Australian emperor, who first penetrated his life through his daughter and invaded his life under the pretext of marriage.

Chapter six ‘Equation of Happiness’ describes how all four alternatives of death are unilaterally painful.

There is no going back on the assertion that symbiosis in all forms shall turn to parasitic penalty unless, sense (education, nurturing) of equality and justice is introduced.


16.3. The real selfish should eschew inequalities.

Man is accused of being selfish. He is accused of being materialist. But in what sense he is materialist? Does he understand the laws of matter? Does he understand its implications? Does he know the implications of his being in material frame? Unfortunately, 90% of his important functions are not controlled by him. Egoistic ignorance has termed it as ‘involuntary actions’. A man needs a doctor to tell him that his own organs do not need sugar. Doctor knows his organs in general sense. There are so many mysteries for doctors too, growingly when frontiers of cells and viruses are reached. Indeed, the penalties of inequality are engrained in every grain of man.

Inequality in cells nature and behavior

Recollect the reference from “Paths of Science” (P-31). We are told about the inequalities spread over different parts of cell. Time movement of anybody reminds of this fragrant fact. The author on page 60 says, “The cells of some organs are harder, less complex and more stable. Irreversible changes take a longer time to come to these harder cells. The cells of other organs are delicate and vulnerable. They begin to disintegrate sooner, giving rise to earlier irreversible changes. Some cells live quite some time, after their owner’s death...The epithelia of skin, for instance and the cells of the hairs and nails behave this way. The nerve cells of the brain, particularly, the cerebral cortex, are the most delicate and unstable. Irreversible changes occur in them very soon after death.”

What a paradox!! Nails and hairs comparatively remain detached. For this detachment, they (don’t die but) continue to grow after death. On the other hand, brain cells, the helping despot of mind, the supreme commander throughout life, the delicate, un-changing, un-movable depot of higher hierarchy, die quicker. The growing evidence of biological death as compared to clinical death and cell differentiation at the time of death, as shown above are eye opening indicators. On page 67 of the treatise, the author asks “The question arises, why the cells of central nervous system, and particular of those of the central cortex, are so fragile that the change in them becomes irreversible in the short time of six minutes.”

The question, why cortex cells are so fragile so as to die in six minutes, is not answered, and after two pages of jottings, author on page eleven declares that the cell die to “save themselves.” What an explanation!! Can it be accepted without assuming surviving mind to the cell? And again, compare the two quotations above. Some cells outlive death admittedly, and others survive to ‘save themselves’ according to the same author.

In a single individual body, Nature has packed all the lessons. She shows us the horrors and penalties of inequalities, she tells rewards of patient detachment. If the mind cannot accept democracy and treat its own cell subjects just fully, what right has the mind to speak of democracy, justice and right in the external world?

To avoid sacrifice for society, the selfish man puts forth the excuses that I shall serve my family instead of serving the society. Such a selfish soul is advised to be more selfish, and still go within, to find out the implications of the inner laws, within his real self.

16.4. Marxist (materialistic) thinkers capable of rethinking.

We have quoted Marxist (materialist) authorities without any disrespect or implied satire. We are submitting to their honest thinkers to reconsider a part of their stand, when our own inferences lead us to acceptance of equality. A deeper thinking will convince the unprejudiced thinker how this suggested clue alone is the redeeming way. In the age of quantum mechanics, new inferences have emerged. In the work ‘Lenin and Modern National Society, (page 204) the Marxist thinker has said “Unlike other philosophic systems, dialectical materialism does not oppose modern science as a set of rigid propositions given once and for all; its content is enriched and its form changed with every great scientific discovery.”

S.V.’s modest approach:

We do not profess to have invented any great scientific discovery. But certainly, we have drawn the logical inferences from the findings of scientific thinkers like Pavlov, Einstein, Heisenberg and others. Let them be accepted or rejected, with reasons

16.7   From ‘ego’ step down to ‘equality’.

Marxists have spoken about law of contradiction in Nature. We have shown the roots of paradoxes and cycles to be ghosts of inequalities. Elements of ego attempt a break through, with the result that peace, tranquility, equality is disturbed. This is disturbance against natural justice.

What is way out? How can we reconcile?

When natural justice is ignored, when internal cycles of revenge remain unconcealed, it gives impression of paradox. A prudent man has to learn that every pleasure shall be chased by ghost of displeasure. Howsoever, much the beneficiary endeavors to abuse the law by misnomers as ‘ghost’ or paradoxes, such abuses amount to temporary relief, born out of shifting the plane. Abuses hardly absolve the law-hit homosapian. Once this is realized, deciphered, every particle of body should be considered a just and equitable ‘recreating (shaping)’ according to natural law. Condemning the natural law as, paradox, cancer, parasite is only to perpetuate the cycle of revenge with multiplying offences to receive the new penalty in time to come.

“Turn within”: Entropy (second law of thermodynamics.)

In a bid to secure cheap solutions some investigators give new post-dated checks. The latest of such dishonored check is anti-malaria campaign. Report from “Times of India” Bombay edition, dated 4-12-79 says “In the ding dong battle with the man, the mosquito has once again revealed a new strategy which, unless countered quickly and effectively, can spell disaster. For the fight against malaria in recent years has been mainly based on a powerful drug called chloroquine, and this nostrum has lost its punch. A report by the U.N. environmental program says that this protozoan parasite has developed high resistance to the drug. This comes on top of the disclosure that 43 species of malaria spreading anopheline mosquitoes are resistant to a range of potent insecticide including DDT, BHC and carbamates.

After spending astronomical sums on various projects, authorities have realized that it is neither desirable, nor feasible to attempt malaria eradication by conventional means. All that can be aimed for the present to control its depredations and reduce its severity.”

Let us stop our vain fight against Nature and natural laws. End of this Universe is destined to be entropy, which compels equality. (See points 13.8 and 12.4.)

Entropy means equality.

A German chose the Greek word entropy to mean ‘turn within’. (Ref. Cybernetics A to Z, page 105). Turn within then. Address each of your cells, persuade him to a new realization, and make him participate in your heightened existence. In consequence, you shall have blessings of your colleagues; an experience un-comparable.

Here we end with a quotation from a great doctor. Which comes at the end of the book ‘Rich Ambitious and Healthy’ (Written by S.V.) Dr. Kenneth Walker is an impeachable authority in modern science. Yet, his observations would fly in the face of optimists clinging to the day dream, that wonder drugs one day will win Nature and relieve them of their ills.

Dr. Walker asseverates:-

We have measured the sun, and because we have discovered that it is only a star of the second magnitude, we no longer reverence its splendor. God has become an unnecessary hypothesis to the possessor of a little natural philosophy and has been eliminated from the Universe. Many of our fears are due to our illusions concerning ourselves and the lack of any time in our lives. We see ourselves as the sole representatives of mind traveling through space-time in a dead and soulless universe. Sometimes, we may boast that we are conquering ‘Nature’, but Nature does not even fight; she is secure in her possession of us. We may think that with a little more cleverness and contriving, we shall be able to live out the span of our lives, not only with security, but in comfort. This is an absurdity, for there can be no security and no certainty of comfort for anything that breaths and moves.

Summary:

Bodies of the mother and father provide raw material of matter for the ‘new organized mind’. Father, mother as sex dual merely represent factor inequality pervading in fathomless nature.

At conception, ‘Organized Mind’ fabricates an ‘individual’, builds around it a net of cells. The fabrication of the individual and net of cells around it is done at ‘whatever quality organizing mind deserves’. Yes! All of us are surrounded cell by cell, animal by animal, man by man who are created based on their past karmas.

From where do these minds come from? How do they cooperate with the ‘organizing mind’?

The riddle can be solved with pure logic. Qualitatively inferior minds participate in the new game; which both have played earlier, somewhere else. Not that they have cordial relation but the tendency we see in the society, has its origin at the root of every birth. For the convenience and selfish end of all, cell minds come together and some of the cell minds do have a vengeance in their heart. They wait till the appropriate time to overpower the ‘organizing mind’
.
Touch of Life gives millions times strength to the tiny piece of the body. This is a phenomenon which science can’t explain. To this transcending (that which goes beyond normal limit) power, we call Mind power.

For all our advanced techniques, we (human beings) have not yet approached the level of rationalism possessed by living Nature.

Accidents, sudden separations, so called untimely deaths need to be analyzed in the light of Nature’s over all tenets. Perhaps such so called mishaps signal settlement of reciprocal accounts.

Is reciprocation so exactly minute? Are there ‘Chances’, ‘Accidents’ in Nature?

If you go through the records of the world history from geological, physical, biological, chemical point of view, you will find Nature to be absolutely exact. Many a times, scientists term it as a chance, accident etc.

The origin of life: To trace back the origin of life let us return to Virus, from where our discussion mooted. (Chapter1 and 8)

Similes about unity of revenge within and outside the organization

When we say "this assembly is of the opinion", it might be only 51% of the group, institutional members or elected members in a given context. There are all chances that; either by new election or changing floor by 2% of the people, the opposition will take over the scene, and a resolution of opposite nature can be passed. Right from a dramatic association to a nation, the breakdowns or assimilations take place, Pakistan is created out of India. Sikkim is added to India and Alaska to U.S.A.

13.2.    Pre virus inequalities. (Mind to Matter)

The proofs of the original inequality are overwhelming. Theoretically since every atom in the universe occupies different space and time, every atom has some difference.—this basic fact presumes inequality. Scientists go even further. They say “no two atoms are alike”

Point 8.1 emphasizes ‘free will to electron’, basically such inherent free will cannot but create inequality by and large. Going to the pre virus states, they could not avoid the differences (i.e. inequalities).

“The segregation of the (coaservate) drops from their environment, this emergence of individual colloidal system was a pledge of their further development. Even the drops which appear simultaneously in the solution differ somewhat from one another as regards composition and internal structure.”

Point 8.1 has referred to references on mind designated to matter.

In any case, inequality in matter itself forewarns of inequality to come, particularly, on the background of 13.3 below.

13.3.    Talk of social equality supports Mind.

There is a very subtle point. Science says Matter has inertia. Matter has no feelings. If life is only matter, the question of inequality in the Matter cannot legitimately arise. Feeling of inequality can only be the prerogative of Non-matter. Chemical compounds may differ, but they have no complexes of superiority or inferiority.

The talk of establishing equality itself gives ‘Non-material’ nature of mind credence, a wide range of other proofs apart.

13.4.    Three paradoxes of Virus (“Lower dictates”)

Viruses: - Are they living things on the way down or inanimate things on the way up? We may never know! Thus a single virus gives birth to three levels of paradoxes.

Paradox one: - Whether virus is life or lifeless.
Paradox two: - Whether it is an end product or beginning of the evolution.
Paradox three: - The smallest riddle infesting troubles the highest animal.

We substantiate the third paradox.


13.5.    Three paradoxes:-Natural justice, revenge.

To understand the above paradoxes and the implication of ‘lower dictates’, we have to understand virus two ways. Some of the biologists feel that virus is a later product of evolution, since virus generally needs a living medium and so it cannot pre date before first living organism itself. This, if accepted, goes against the grain of evolutionists, who prefer step by step evolution in the living form. Both sides have their own logic which can be reconciled if third level of facts is taken into account. The third new consideration is as follows.

·         Scientist Asimov tells us :- “ Once such a nucleic acid molecule was formed, the equivalent of free living gene (or tiny virus) were present in the ocean; and they multiplied at the expense of the organic compound that had been built up all about them by the action of sun.
·         Nucleic acid molecules in the ocean = Tiny virus ----- They multiplied in the presence of sun ------ Original virus, which was not parasite.

These original viruses were not parasites, as there was nothing for them to be parasitic upon” *(Well Springs of Life)

This information reduces the paradox to understandability. Asimov has made virus first spring board of life’s evolution, virus without any wickedness to kill others. Then the wickedness (or bitterness) in the virus seems to be developed in the later stage. What way the reason?

The reason for original inequality

In 13.1 and 13.2 above, we have underlined previous inequalities. These inequalities seem to be fore-running cause of later growing inequalities, in progressive form of living.

Attitude of first virus

As such we must also know that non- revengeful attitude of the first virus on the borderline can be described, merely as the relative stage. In pre-virus stage of existence, their desire of revenge could not be vocal. They (pre-virus stage objects) marked time and scored over others. In turn others too had an upper hand. Just a see saw.

By this logic we must perceive how their first so called inherent or potent viruses might be subjecting somebody else to torture, when, they did not know at that stage. But that does not mean absence of such revenge phenomenon, once the cyclic processes are accepted. Inequalities, we spoke of in point 13.2 are the original inequalities.  We find progressive account as follows.

Coaservate drops: Survival/ perishing.

·         * Those coaservate drops alone were capable of a more or less protracted existence, which possessed a certain dynamic stability and synthetic speeds exceeding or at least balancing the speed of break down.
·         Contrariwise, those drops in which chemical changes in the given environmental conditions were directed primarily at break down were doomed, in consequence to a more or less swift disappearance or did not originate at all. In any case, their individual life story soon came to an abrupt end, and such formation, therefore, no longer played a consequential role in the further evolution of the organic substance.
·         That role was played only by dynamically stable colloidal formations , and any digression from this stability put them swiftly out of existence and destroyed these “unfortunate” forms of organization
·         Such inadequately organized drops disintegrated and the organic substances they contained were again scattered in the solution, rejoining the depot on which the more “fortunate” and better organized coaservate depended for their nutrition.
·         However, the drops in which synthetic held sway (prevailed) over break down, were not only preserved, but grew and increased in weight and volume.
·         In this way it was the drops which possessed an organization, best suited to the given environmental conditions , that grew in size  *( The Origin of Life, P-1, page 80)

S. V. comments:- Please note the world “fortunate” and “unfortunate” are put by the author (Oparin) himself in double inverted commas. In the above description, the unfortunate forms, that were destroyed, seem to have again rejoined the fortunate or better organized drops, which cannot be without reservation or without inherent desire to take revenge.

The process seems to be simple. (The origin of revenge cycle – concept)

(I)   First weaklings are destroyed.
(II)   The fortunate drops organize themselves.
(III)  The originally destroyed “unfortunate” joins the fortunate for their nutrition, for their survival.

The entity that seeks pleasure which is denied to it gets displeasure. This entity for the lust of pleasure, though submits to the source of pleasure, must have retained dislike and must harbor attitude of revenge. This is very logical conclusion relating to the birth of chain revenge.
It had taken roots at the very first stage and the same tendency has followed up to date.
The physical evolution and psycho evolution cannot be bifurcated.
The revenge cycle includes not only open enemies but also so called friends and relations ultimately turn into ghost of revenge, often in the pretext of affection.

13.6.    An upgrading structure of “revenge cycle” is ruling the living existence.

With the progress of living (evolution) the revenge cycle is also progressing in its complexities. S.V. has given the description of this revenge cycle at each stage from the origin of life.

Material level, Pre virus matter                                                         Virus itself (a paradox and infects animals),
Cell ---- Invaded by virus.
Plants ---- Consumed by viruses and animals.
Animals --- Eaten by higher forms at each stage.
Man --- Revenge within and revenge without.
Families --- Conflicts within members.
Groups ---- Differences of opinions, murders.
Nations ----- Wars.
Races, Religions ---- hate, slaughters

Evidence of this revenge cycle is written in large letters in the history of Biology, Psychology and politics.

13.7.    Replacing other (sweet) words is redundant.

The word ‘revenge cycle’ is replaced by many by other sweet words. But that is not making any difference in the fact of life. True, the reality of the revenge is unpalatably (not easily) acceptable. It is a bitter pill to swallow. But how do all cycles in nature exist?

Thermodynamics second law reference.

We all know that according to the second law of thermodynamics, unavailability of energy is the final destination of the universe. On the contrary, unless the energy is available for exchange, no cycle can survive.

Equation of happiness (Book by S. V.), Chapter 5 points out to the cost paid for the so called development. Every so called development has purchased new disease.
The treaties ‘Cure Yourself’, ‘Cure without Medicine’, ‘Death of decease’, ‘Rich Ambitious Healthy’ are full with account of the internal revenges and counter revenges.

To avoid these contradictions materialists formulated “the law of contradictions” itself. Contradictions, paradoxes, negation of negation, low of force and number of terminologies in their philosophy threw light on nature of Nature.

Darwin: - (who indirectly endorses revenge phenomenon) prefers to call “Natural selection” and treats the nature as despot (ruler with great power who uses it in cruel way). ‘Natural selection’ becomes more mysterious than God, since the former is not bound by the Karmic law. Curiously enough, the counterpart of two axioms (a statement that is accepted as true without further proof or argument) by Darwin “survival of the fittest” comes to very near the origin of revenge cycle, we are delineating. Right from lowest form of the matter, we have provided proof of revenge cycle born or inequality.

13.8.    Symbiosis only till convenient. (Darwinism too proves it!)

Symbiosis means living together in cooperation. But if observed in Nature, such examples are a few.

*Association of living things

Symbiosis, commensalisms and parasitism are three of the categories in which the ecologists, the biologists divide the living things which live together for various reasons. These experts study the way the life of living things and their relations to their environment.

These associations may be formed between
·         animals only
·         plants only
·         animals and plants

They may be as
·         herds of cattle’s
·         flocks of sheep’s
·         communities of ants, bees, wasps (black/yellow flying insects)
·         Colonies formed by corals.

These are the associations between individuals belonging to same species or they could be associations belonging to different species.

Commensalisms, symbiosis and parasitizes all belong to this latter category. The term commensalisms , which means ‘eating at the same table’ was originally given to association between two or more animals belonging to different species, which share each other’s food.

Revenge cycle behind (apparent) symbiosis

Darwin unearthed the revenge cycle behind the apparent symbiosis. He and his followers formulated the evolution theory in three main stages.

1.      Over population --- leading to struggle for existence.
2.      Adaptation --- During this struggle, adjustment by few by mutation and variations.
3.      Natural selection --- Implying survival of the fittest.

Careful review of the views in this book Vis-a Vis the Darwin theory

1.       Carefully looked the original inequalities aggravated the trouble for existence at the stage of over population.
2.       Those who had superiority in original inequalities could affect adaptation, variation and mutation.
3.       The third stage of “natural selection” equated with the axiom “survival of the fittest” is logical.

Our theme states that inequalities were created by ego inflated superiors who were later subjected to revenge cycle.

God, Super power, Mind

Since the three stages in Darwin theory as stated above are logical it affords elimination of God/Super power/Mind. But certain inherent incongruities bring in some super power like Mind. For example: - What was the cause of first inequality mentioned in point 13.2? Answer is given in 13.8 which explain how Mind is brought in. In 13.5 we have seen how materialists, scientists in a bid to avoid super-physical phenomenon, have to introduce the notion of ‘fortunate’ and ‘unfortunates’. In other words, ‘inequalities of mind’ started the first mystery, and equality is the relieving solution.

Symbiosis would remain rare.

Till equality is reached, the revenge cycle is bound to continue, symbiosis would remain rare.
Apart from the fact that partnerships in symbiosis are rare, they only reflect transient truth. More often we see friendship turning into inimical relationship, where mutual convenience ceases to have any exchange benefit.

Symbiosis against parasitism

Rareness of the symbiosis existence will be clearer when we examine its opposite, the parasitic value. Parasitic living is termed so, when living is at the expense of somebody else. If this is so, one must wonder why poor tiny animals are called parasitic. In the human society countless parasites exist according to this definition, and when the man eats goats, dears, cows, buffalos, horses, what type of symbiosis does it betray? What right we have to disdain (dis respect) and condemn parasites?

We venture to quote the book referred above on virus. If we look at the parasites dispassionately (objectively) what will happen .The author says on:-

The tiger and the microscopic carnivore’s hat range through the green and quite dwell in our ponds and streams, these are getting their foods from the bodies of other animals, and these too harm their prey, they kill them, in fact, which is more than the parasites normally do.
Extending our view beyond the animal world, we may consider the cow that crops our fields, the rabbit that does our crop so much of harm, the plants indeed, that feed on insects and other preys. All these seem to fulfill our definition of parasite. How can they be distinguished from parasites?

Is man symbiotic? Peace loving?

It may be argued that normally the man is peace loving animal and prefers symbiosis, since wars are few and peace periods are plenty. We hesitate to argue more on this point since self-check is the best solution. Wars are avoided because they are too costly and not because war tendency is lacking. All stages of peace period are chiefly diverted to the preparation of war
In families and societies conflict is the pass word. Open conflicts are not less, back biting is countless. One who does not vent out open revenge murmurs in his mind ‘every dog has his days, I will have mine.’

Revenge cycle is truth

Greek history, Bible history, Arabian records, Persian records, Indian mythology and whole world history down to this age breathe destruction and revenge. Geeta, Shanti parva are great but oasis spots in Blood Sea of conflicts in Mahabharata. So is the story of major religious works.

We are at pain but the truth is truth.

We are at pain to point out this picture, but some people profess that world is full of peace, they speak either partial truth, convenient truth, or truth with reference to certain context
Such people paint the picture of world as it should be and not as it is. We are underlining the reality and revenge, since correct diagnosis will cure corroding melodies. As it stands therefore, the revenge complex is the real menace (dangerous harm). To fight the ghostly cycle of revenge, the arms of knowledge are the pacifying tools. Knowledge always cures without any bad effect.

13.9 Pleasure to Pain. (Revenge cycle)

We have traced the element of inequality at all levels so far and in 13.6 we have traced the Revenge element from pre virus stage to manhood. Pleasure is the motive, jealous inequality is the mode, cyclic defeats and revenge is the terminating end of each cycle. We shall reach a postulate from reverse i.e. from human angle, human level.

1 Man level: - No proof is required to establish jealous human greed. Man is possibly the greatest parasite. Man is, perhaps the only cruel animal who shoots down the mute innocent in nature just for his pleasure, while the other animals restrict their cruelty for their bare livelihood. Other animals are satisfied with their day’s meal when available. Human greed would like to store for next generation what others need today is grabbed by human parasites for his tomorrow’s fancy. Tomorrow that he may not survive to see. Anyway, human parasitic tendency is self-evident; Omni present, Omni potent.

2 Animal world: - To a limited extent, within its own right, every animal steps down to consume the junior partner in the nature.

3 Free unicellular world: - Single cell animals like protozoa, bacteria that lead independent life
in nature prey upon the organic substances in the ponds. They invade animal world and hit-back as revenge. In the last analysis, we find antigens outlived antibodies without laying down arms. At the upper rank of the ladder they infest the so called towering all powerful animals, and at the other end, they cause inconvenience to sub-cellular existence of psycho world, again, to breed revenge from them in due course. (Cure yourself ch.6)

4     Plants: - Plants indirectly and partly feed themselves on animal remains. Though normally plants behave gently, they are not free from inherent revenge and in some cases they eat other plants and animals. Quite sometimes, the plants feed on their subordinates. (Dear Mr. Boss, page 66-67).

5     Cell in animal body: - The concept of evolution can only be complete if we understand that this development of multi-cellular animal stems from a single cell. Sometimes, free cell convert them to participate in the life process of higher animals. The learned professor Easton tells us as “certain bacteria can manufacture their protoplasm from simple compounds such as carbon di oxide and ammonia. Cells of higher organization have lost the ability to use simple organic materials and instead must be supplied with higher complex molecules….”

Hypothesis of Virus Evolution: - There are only two current hypothesis of viral evolution, both based on the necessity for viruses of strict intra cellular growth.

In 8.2, we have seen that first viruses were not parasites. The only conclusion can be – Viruses were first innocent either as free living animals or part of cell, at least their vengeance was controlled. Subjected to the inconvenience by the upper cell masters, they grew revengeful.
By all standards, when viruses chose to hit back, the top of the hierarchy, the man himself became helpless. Human battle against viruses is countered by tiny tyrant, by mutation without number.

What right man has to blame his junior partners for selfish pleasure when he is pleasure seeking incarnate? And here possibly, the eyebrows would be raised for a question: Whether cell or virus has the same pleasure seeking tendency or not? This is answered in following two sub points.

13.10      Cells – Viruses desire pleasure.

In a cell life sex also has a place.

* In a single cell animal called Paramecium there is a love sickness. It has a smaller form of depression, which occurs under natural condition and which appears to be kind of “love sickness” is curable by something resembling the orthodox remedy. It is in paramecium, lowly though, it may be, that we see the first traces of phenomenon of sex, the dawn of process of a process of life common to the great majority of animals and plants. * (Cine Biology, C-9, page 31)

** Some viruses get so sluggish, that having invaded the cell; they took up housekeeping in nucleus itself. Here they achieved the ultimate in enzyme assistance, but they became also irreversibly dependent on the nuclei. Love sickness, laziness, seeking for the pleasure on one side and the other side of the coin has disappointment and displeasure. Eventually, hit by the inequality, for which they are denied pleasure, revenge is the only resource. ** (The nature of living things, page 59)

13.11   Human cells also desire pleasure.

Once the quandary (a state of unable to decide what to do in difficult situation) of cell is established, the same applies to human cells in view of point 13.9.5 above. Single cell joins multi cellular organism only to seek more pleasure and safety.

·         *Nobel prize winner Dr. Sherington says :-  Many cell organism such as each of us are, were one cell at the beginning  and when it has become many celled , the behavior of constituent cells shows that each one of them , like the parents cells , is still an autonomous unit life.
·         But the behavior of the individual cell in the body is restrained by the influence of its fellow cells. The desistance (stoppage) from further growth beyond the adult stage is partly traceable to this.
·         There is a scrap of tissue from an embryo chick transferred to artificial culture thirty seven years ago , which is growing vigorously as ever now today , If left within the chick , it would have died years ago.
·         Some of our cells, although they are part and parcel of us, have not fixed even coherence with the “rest”; such cells are called “free”.
·         The original cell which started the whole body was free as are all those of that particular kind.
·         And others too are free. The cells of our blood are as free as fish in a stream of the blood. Some of them resemble in structure and ways so closely the little free- swimming amoeba of the pond as to be called amoeboid. The pond amoeba crawls about, catches and digests particles picked up in the pond, so the amoeboid cells inhabiting any blood and lymph crawls about over and through the membranes limiting the fluid channels in the body. They catch and digest particles. Should I get a wound, they contribute to its healing .They give it a chance to mend, by eating and digesting bacteria which, which poison it, and by feeding on the dead cell, which are killed due to the wind injury.
·         They are themselves unit lives and yet in respect to my life as a whole, they are components in that corporate life. * (Man on his Nature, page 75.)

Body cells have paid the cost.

Body cells, as we have seen in the point 13.9.5 have paid the cost of easy life by demanding more safety in the protected multi cellular organism.

·         Cells in the body, if placed outside, could survive longer. There are references to show that in a single body , the capacity of the cell to save is different * (Paths of Science,  pages 56 to 61 and71)
·         It is suggested that the brain cells controlling the organism through the life are more fragile than others.(page 71)
·         Each entity has to pay the price of so called superiority and that is established at every point, of every cell.
·         Organ donation (say eye, kidney etc.) indicate how the cells leave the dying man to his fate and willingly live somewhere else.

13.12      Same law (body cell takes revenge.)

The entire phenomenon is governed by Laws of Motion, Causality.

When ‘organizing mind’ of the organism for its emotional frenzy (state of extreme excitement) hits at its cell empire, that subjects them to those tortures for easy life. The chief despot (cruel ruler, cruel king) also has to pay the cost. In return, the cell empire hits at the ‘organizing mind’

Laws of Motion are universal. In Biology, they may become abstract, but they would not be absent.   

If the ‘organized mind’ acts on the cells, one day or the other, cells are also bound to react. To call such phenomenon revenge, ghost, injustice or paradox is itself a paradox, if not ignorance.


Summary:

-          The talk of establishing equality itself gives ‘Non-material’ nature of mind credence.
-          We saw earlier that the starting point of life was Coaservate drops. Those coaservate drops alone were capable of existence, which possessed a certain dynamic stability and synthetic speeds exceeding or at least balancing the speed of break down. Contrariwise, those drops in which chemical changes in the given environmental conditions were directed primarily at break down were doomed, or did not originate at all. The unfortunate forms, that were destroyed, seem to have again rejoined the fortunate or better organized drops, which cannot be without reservation or without inherent desire to take revenge.
-          The entity that seeks pleasure which is denied to it gets displeasure. This entity for the lust of pleasure, though submits to the source of pleasure, must have retained dislike and must harbor attitude of revenge. This is very logical conclusion relating to the birth of chain revenge.
-          It had taken roots at the very first stage and the same tendency has followed up to date.
-          The physical evolution and psycho evolution cannot be bifurcated.
-          True, the reality of the revenge is unpalatably (not easily) acceptable. It is a bitter pill to swallow.
-          Darwin unearthed the revenge cycle behind the apparent symbiosis.
-          With the progress of living (evolution) the revenge cycle is also progressing in its complexities. S.V. has given the description of this revenge cycle at each stage from the origin of life i.e. from coaservate to virus to cell to multi-cell lives up to human being.
-          Body cells have paid the cost of easy life by demanding more safety in the protected multi cellular organism.
-          Pleasure is the motive, jealous inequality is the mode, cyclic defeats and revenge is the terminating end of each cycle.
-          The revenge cycle includes not only open enemies but also so called friends and relations ultimately turn into ghost of revenge, often in the pretext of affection.
-          Symbiosis means living together in cooperation. But if observed in Nature, such examples are few.
